Changelog
Public releases of RAW Supersampler on the Mac App Store. The same notes are in the app under Help.
2.0.0
21 October 2026
- Major speed improvements on Mac: 6K to 6K conversion is up to 2.5 times faster than in version 1.4.5, UHD to Full HD up to 50 % faster, and 6K to UHD and 8K to 6K about 30 % faster.
- Converting directly from network volumes (NAS) is faster on Mac.
- Completely redesigned interface: drop clips, folders or a whole card onto the large drop area and see every clip in a list with a preview, camera, resolution, frame count and size.
- Before you start, each clip shows its output resolution and estimated size, and the bottom bar shows the expected size of the whole batch and the space it saves.
- A clear settings panel with one-click choices for compression, output format and resolution. Point at any option to see what it does and how it changes the current batch.
- Live progress for the whole batch with time remaining, the status of every clip and the space saved so far. Pause at any time; Stop asks before ending the batch and keeps finished clips.
- Remove clips you don't need from the list before converting. A batch started again skips the clips that are already converted and continues its progress where it stopped.
- Several conversion tasks in one window: each tab has its own clips, settings and destination.
- Backup copy: choose a second folder in Destination, ideally on another drive. Converted clips and proxies are written to both folders at the same time and both copies are verified.
- One Target resolution choice for all cameras, with optional 8K output for Nikon Z8 and Z9 users. Clips are never enlarged, and clips already close to the chosen resolution keep their original resolution.
- Before a batch starts, the app checks the free space on the output drives and warns you if the conversion may not fit.
- Converted files now keep the recording and modification dates of the original clip, so clips sort by date correctly in editing applications.
- Slightly better image quality for demanding footage at the same quality level.
- Demanding clips with a lot of changing detail convert faster.
- Light and Dark appearance, following your system setting.
- Comparison test mode asks before running on more than five clips.
- The computer stays awake while a batch runs, and a batch interrupted by a crash or power loss is marked in the log.
- Shutting down, restarting or logging out during a batch no longer cuts it off: you can keep converting or stop the batch safely first.
- Settings can show what limits the conversion speed, for example the processor, the graphics card or a disk at full load.
- Send Diagnostics and Trim a Clip for Support prepare the files our support needs when you report a problem.
1.4.5
6 October 2026
- Significant speed improvements for same-resolution conversions: 6K to 6K is up to 78 % faster and UHD to UHD up to 30 % faster.
- Same-resolution conversions produce smaller files or better image quality at the same quality setting.
- Each file starts converting faster, which especially helps batches with many short clips.
- Better image quality when a converted file is converted again.
1.4.0
4 October 2026
- Refined compression profiles Q1–Q7 now deliver more predictable file sizes, even for highly detailed or high-ISO footage.
- Mixed resolution batches convert every file. A source smaller than the selected output resolution is converted to the largest resolution that fits, instead of being copied unchanged.
- Command-line automation for professional pipelines: run batch conversions from Terminal or your own scripts with the same choices as in the app (input files and folders, output folder, resolution, format, quality level and Generate Proxy), or trim a range of frames from an original R3D-NE or NEV clip without re-encoding. See Help › Command Line Help for usage.
- The conversion log is easier to read: each file has its own section with the source format, settings, output resolution, frame rate, average, minimum and maximum frame size and bitrate.
- The trial watermark is now shown in yellow near the top and bottom of the frame, keeping the centre of the image clear.
1.3.0
29 September 2026
- Significant speed improvements, up to 40 % faster conversion time.
- Estimated conversion time remaining helps you plan longer batches. Estimates adapt as the batch runs and pause with the task.
- Conversion tabs and settings return after an interrupted session, restart or update. Ready, running and paused tasks are restored; completed tasks stay completed.
- Multiple tasks can share an output folder when their planned files do not overlap. Conflicts are detected before conversion starts. Copy / Archival mode now verifies the task's own files without treating unrelated files in the destination as errors.
- Failed conversions retain their last progress, mark the tab as Failed and show a concise notification. Full disks, disconnected drives and unexpected errors are handled more clearly.
- Follow overall progress directly in each running tab, rename tasks, and keep your Mac awake while conversions are active.
- Command-line batch automation is now available for professional workflows.
- The new Help window includes the app version, complete public release history, website, support and App Store rating links.
1.2.0
22 September 2026
- New, simplified compression choices: CQ1 Max Quality, CQ3 High, CQ5 Normal and CQ7 Proxy.
- CQ5 Normal is now the recommended default, balancing image quality and storage requirements for editing and grading.
- Compression profiles have been recalibrated to provide clearer and more consistent steps in quality and file size across 8K, 6K, 4K and Proxy outputs.
- Improved consistency between High, Normal and R3D-NE source footage, including same-resolution conversions.
- Generate Proxy now uses the space-efficient CQ7 Proxy profile.
- Clearer profile descriptions make it easier to choose the right quality level for each workflow.
1.1.0
21 September 2026
- Run multiple independent conversions at the same time using task tabs. Each task has its own source, destination, settings, progress, pause and stop controls.
- Better image quality when reducing resolution, with cleaner fine detail and fewer artifacts.
- Compression levels now give more predictable file-size savings at every resolution. Footage that is already optimized is not compressed again, and clips can be switched between R3D-NE and NEV without any loss of quality.
- Conversion settings are remembered between tasks and app launches. Proxy 1920×1080 handling now prevents duplicate proxy outputs.
- The Dock now shows one combined progress indicator for all active tasks, while each task provides its own completion notification.
- Clearer destination disk errors, completion summaries and source-to-output size savings.
1.0.2
18 September 2026
- Fixed conversion of supported Nikon 4K raw source clips.
- Minor improvements to folder selection and the interface.
1.0.1
17 September 2026
- 6K-to-6K raw conversion now uses the graphics processor when available for faster processing.
- System Check has been simplified. It appears on first launch and can be reopened anytime from the RAW Supersampler menu.
- This update also improves file and folder selection, drag-and-drop, and overall reliability.
1.0
16 September 2026
- Initial release on the Mac App Store.
