Card Helper

RAW Supersampler Card Helper lets RAW Supersampler safe-format a camera card after a verified Copy / Archival conversion of the whole card, and restore it again. It is a separate, free download because apps from the Mac App Store cannot write to memory cards directly.

What safe format does

Safe format makes the card unreadable, so the camera offers to format it. Until the card is formatted in the camera, RAW Supersampler can restore it bit for bit.

Install

1. Open the downloaded ZIP (Safari usually does this for you) and drag RAW Supersampler Card Helper to Applications.
2. Open Card Helper and click Install.
3. In System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions, allow RAW Supersampler Card Helper under Allow in the Background. Card Helper can then be closed; it runs in the background and starts with your Mac.
4. In System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access, turn on RAW Supersampler Card Helper (add it with + from Applications if it is not listed). macOS lets it change memory cards only with this access; the Card Helper window shows when it is missing.
5. In RAW Supersampler, choose RAW Supersampler › Safe Format… and turn on the option.

Safety

• Only whole removable memory cards can be changed, never internal, network or fixed disks, and never a folder on a card.
• Before the card is changed, RAW Supersampler checks every file of the card in the output: each clip converted, every other file an identical copy.
• Card Helper accepts requests only from RAW Supersampler on the same Mac and sends nothing over the internet.
• Every safe format and restore is recorded in /Library/Logs/RAW Supersampler Card Helper.

Remove

Open Card Helper, click Remove, then move the app to the Trash.

1. You may install and use Card Helper free of charge together with RAW Supersampler.
2. Card Helper changes the contents of memory cards. Safe format makes a card unreadable; once the card is formatted in a camera or elsewhere, its previous contents cannot be recovered. You alone are responsible for keeping independent backups of your footage and for checking the converted files before you format a card.
3. Card Helper is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.
4. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Rozsnyo, s.r.o. is not liable for any loss of data or footage, lost profit or other damage arising from the use of Card Helper or of safe format in RAW Supersampler, and its total liability is limited to the price you paid for RAW Supersampler. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
5. These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic.
